A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MORTON HIGH SCHOOL PANTHERS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH MAURICE BOWIE FOR WINNING THE 2025 MHSAA CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. WHEREAS, on March 6, 2026, the Morton High School Panthers Boys Basketball team led by Head Coach Maurice Bowie, won the 2026 MHSAA Class 4A Boys State Basketball Championship, defeating the Leake Central Gators. The final score was Morton 67 - Leake Central 55; and WHEREAS, this victory is Morton's first state championship since 1998 and the third in school history; and WHEREAS, the Morton High School 2026 Championship Roster: Desmand Jenkins, Avonte Reese, Xavier McDonald, Tristian Ealy, Dolph McDonald, Tristan Hobson, Davon Rance, Jaylin Stowers, Bryson Bounds, Justice Anderson, Damaryn Anderson, Jonathan Wesley, and Head Coach, Maurice Bowie; and WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student-athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi: *SS08/R1622* S.
