SECOND REGULAR SESSION HOUSE BILL NO. 1627 103RD GENERAL ASSEMBLY INTRODUCED BY REPRESENTATIVE HALEY. 5415H.01I JOSEPH ENGLER, Chief Clerk To repeal section 178.550, RSMo, and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to the career and technical education advisory council. Section A. Section 178.550, RSMo, is repealed and one new section enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as section 178.550, to read as follows: 178.550. 1. This section shall be known and may be cited as the "Career and Technical Education Student Protection Act". There is hereby established the "Career and Technical Education Advisory Council" within the department of elementary and secondary education. 2. The advisory council shall be composed of [sixteen members who shall be] Missouri residents. The director of the department of economic development and the commissioner of higher education, or [his or her designee] their designees, shall be [a member] members. The commissioner of education, in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders, shall appoint the following (2) [An individual from the business community with a background in commerce] Four individuals from business and commerce; (3) A representative from State Technical College of Missouri; (4) Three current or retired career and technical education teachers who also serve or served as an advisor to any of the nationally recognized career and technical education student organizations EXPLANATION -- Matter …
