An Act establishing the Senior Home Modification Grant Program, supplementing chapter 27D of Title 52 of the Revised Statutes, and amending P.L.2004, c.140. Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey: 1. (New section) a. As used in this section: "Commissioner" means the Commissioner of Community Affairs. "Department" means the Department of Community Affairs. "Grant program" means the Senior Home Modification Grant Program, established pursuant to subsection b. of this section. "Low-income senior citizen" means a person of 62 years of age or older who occupies a household with a total current annual household income equal to 50 percent or less of the area median income for a household of the same size and composition. "Nursing home" means a long-term care facility licensed pursuant to P.L.1971, c.136 (C.26:2H-1 et seq.), as well as the distinct part of another health care facility or continuing care retirement community that is licensed to provide skilled nursing care services pursuant to P.L.1971, c.136 (C.26:2H-1 et seq.). "Rural or underserved community" means a "State designated underserved area," as defined pursuant to section 1 of P.L.2009, c,145 (C.18A:71C-32), or an area included within the boundaries of a municipality that has a population of 30,000 inhabitants or less and a population density less than 4,000 persons per square mile, according …
