An Act concerning pancreatic cancer and supplementing and amending various parts of the statutory law. Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey: 1. a. The Department of Health shall develop partnerships with hospital systems, research and higher education institutions, and cancer centers in the State to develop high-risk pancreatic cancer screenings programs in each county in the State. The department shall develop screening guidelines for such pancreatic cancer screenings programs. b. The department shall establish a program to provide grants to an entity that: (1) establishes a high-risk pancreatic cancer screening program pursuant to the guidelines developed pursuant to subsection a. of this act; or (2) supports pancreatic cancer patients, survivors, and their caregivers, including an entity that provides the following services to pancreatic cancer childcare; caregiver respite; housing assistance during treatment of pancreatic cancer; or mental health counseling. c. An entity who elects to participate in the grant program shall submit an application to the Commissioner of Health on a form and in a manner prescribed by the commissioner. Upon receipt of an application, the commissioner shall review the application and, subject to the availability of funds, award a grant to each approved grant applicant in an amount to be determined by the commissioner. d.
