Assembly Resolution No. 1564 BY: M. of A. O'Pharrow HONORING James "Jimmy O" O'Pharrow posthumously upon the occasion of the co-renaming of Hornell Loop in Brooklyn, New York, in recognition of his contributions to his community and the sport of boxing WHEREAS, From time to time, this Legislative Body takes note of certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued contributions to the success and progress of society, publicly acknowledging their noble endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among us all; and WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor James "Jimmy O" O'Pharrow posthumously upon the occasion of the co-renaming of Hornell Loop in Brooklyn, New York, in recognition of his contributions to his community and the sport of boxing; a commemorative event was held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Pennsylvania Avenue and Hornell Loop; and WHEREAS, James O'Pharrow, affectionately known as "Jimmy O" to many, was the founder of Starrett City Boxing Club in Brooklyn, New York; and WHEREAS, Starrett City Boxing frequently works with young people who aspire to be professional fighters, as well as those who simply want to stay fit and learn about boxing, offering training not only in the sport, but also in life skills; and WHEREAS, …
