AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to limiting the availability of certain special number plates THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 404 of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows: 2-A. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY PROVISION OF LAW TO THE CONTRARY, SPECIAL NUMBER PLATES RESERVED FOR ELECTED PUBLIC OFFICERS SHALL ONLY BE AVAILABLE TO SUCH ELECTED PUBLIC OFFICERS DURING THEIR TERM OF OFFICE AND SHALL BE SURRENDERED TO THE DEPARTMENT UPON THE END OF SUCH TERM. § 2. Section 411-a of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows: 2-A.
