A RESOLUTION Urging the Department of State to comply with the lawful requests for information from the United States Department of Justice and immediately fulfill its obligations to adequately steward the election system of this Commonwealth by fully cooperating with Federal authorities in their efforts to prevent and investigate the registration of noncitizens to vote. WHEREAS, On June 23, August 4 and August 14, 2025, the United States Attorney General issued three letters requesting voter registration information from the Department of State to ascertain compliance with Federal laws, including the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (Public Law 107-252, 52 U.S.C. § 21081 et seq.) and the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (Public Law 103-31, 52 U.S.C. § 20501 et seq.); and WHEREAS, On July 23, August 18 and August 21, 2025, the Department of State replied with only incomplete information, not to the satisfaction of the requests made by the United States Attorney General; and WHEREAS, On September 25, 2025, the United States Department of Justice filed suit against the Commonwealth and the Secretary of the Commonwealth to compel the production of the requested information; and WHEREAS, The information requested by the United States Attorney General would provide the United States Department of Justice with the data required to adequately enforce Federal law regarding election integrity and voter …
