A RESOLUTION Designating the month of November 2025 as "Indiana University of Pennsylvania Appreciation Month" in Pennsylvania. WHEREAS, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) was founded in 1875 as Indiana Normal School; and WHEREAS, The institution was later purchased by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1927, becoming Indiana State Teachers College; and WHEREAS, The institution was subsequently renamed Indiana State College in 1959; and WHEREAS, The act of December 16, 1965 (P.L.1113, No.430), known as the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Act, redesignated the institution as a university; and WHEREAS, IUP is now a thriving institution and part of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education; and WHEREAS, IUP is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2025; therefore be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the month of November 2025 as "Indiana University of Pennsylvania Appreciation Month" in Pennsylvania; and be it further RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend its congratulations to IUP on achieving 150 years of academic excellence and service to our Commonwealth and its students. 20260HR0417PN2900 - 2 -
