A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and expressing condolences to the family of Richard "Dick" Knoebel. WHEREAS, Richard "Dick" Knoebel was born April 28, 1939; and WHEREAS, Mr. Knoebel is synonymous with Knoebels Amusement Resort, but his life and legacy extend far beyond the beloved family-owned-and-operated park and campground in Elysburg; and WHEREAS, While Mr. Knoebel grew up in the family business and spent much of his career at the helm, he also graduated from Lehigh University with a bachelor of science in engineering geophysics and served our country as an aircraft maintenance officer in the United States Marine Corps and later became a captain in the Marine Corps Reserve; and WHEREAS, Mr. Knoebel was an Eagle Scout with a Bronze Palm and a recipient of the God and Country Award; and WHEREAS, Mr. Knoebel was also a loyal Freemason, attaining the distinction of 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and recently celebrating 60 years of membership; and WHEREAS, With an engineer's mind and a Marine's determination, Mr. Knoebel led Knoebels Amusement Resort as president beginning in 1988; and WHEREAS, During his nearly four decades of leadership, Mr. Knoebel guided one of the most transformative periods in the resort's history while carefully preserving the traditions and values that made Knoebels a place where generations of families could spend time together making memories; …
