2026 -- H 8517 ======== LC006166 ======== STATEOFRHODEISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ HOUSERESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE ELEANOR SLATER HOSPITAL--ZAMBARANO CAMPUS ON THE RECOGNITION OF "ZAMBARANO DAY" ON MAY 5, 2026 Introduced By: Representatives Place, Newberry, Shekarchi, Blazejewski, Chippendale, Felix, Hull, Hopkins, Ajello, and Fellela Date Introduced: May 05, 2026 Referred To: House read and passed WHEREAS, Since 1995, the Eleanor Slater Hospital-Zambarano campus has been serving the citizens of the State of Rhode Island. It was previously called the Dr. U. E. Zambarano Hospital in tribute to its superintendent. Since its inception, the Eleanor Slater Hospital-Zambarano campus has provided crucial health care for many Rhode Islanders; and WHEREAS, This facility delivers compassionate health care services to those Rhode Islanders who are in greatest need, including those with acute breathing problems, severe wounds, infectious diseases, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and other acute conditions which require a longer hospitalization. The hospital also serves geriatric patients who require more medical and clinical resources than other post-acute providers can provide; and WHEREAS, Eleanor Slater Hospital-Zambarano campus serves as a model for long-term acute care facilities; and WHEREAS, Since its first meeting on May 18, 1979, the patients have been involved in an organized group, "Patients for Progress" dedicated to promoting superior care for all individuals at our State hospitals; …
