A concurrent RESOLUTION TO CONGRATULATE SHERIFF CARTER WEAVER FOR BEING NAMED THE 2026 SOUTH CAROLINA SHERIFFS' ASSOCIATION SHERIFF OF THE YEAR AND TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO GEORGETOWN COUNTY AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA. W hereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is pleased to learn that Sheriff Carter Weaver has been named the 2026 Sheriff of the Year by the South Carolina Sheriffs' Association; and W hereas, a native of Georgetown County, Sheriff Weaver is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University, the Charleston School of Law, and the FBI National Academy; and W hereas, Sheriff Weaver began his career in law enforcement with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) where he worked in various roles including the bloodhound tracking team, SWAT, outlaw motorcycle gangs, fugitive apprehension, and criminal investigations; and W hereas, Sheriff Weaver joined the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office in 2001 as the Assistant Sheriff. His duties included the management of enforcement, corrections, judicial, and communications units sworn to protect the citizens of Georgetown County; and W hereas, Sheriff Weaver was elected as the Sheriff of Georgetown County in February of 2020. As sheriff, he has spearheaded many initiatives to serve his staff and community.
