A RESOLUTION to honor the legendary Dolly Parton on the occasion of a segment of U.S. Highway 411 and U.S. Highway 25W being named in her honor. WHEREAS, Dolly Parton is Tennessee's most beloved and accomplished native daughter, a supremely gifted and multi-talented writer, entertainer, and businesswoman whose compassionate spirit is at the heart of all she does and whose philanthropy has touched the lives of millions around the world; and WHEREAS, an international ambassador for Tennessee's music, culture, and values, Dolly Paton has committed her life to charity, education, economic development, and community service, through which she has had a profound and lasting impact on Tennesseans, this country, and the world; and WHEREAS, Dolly Parton has brought joy and hope to all who love and admire her; she is an inspiration throughout the world, especially in her home of East Tennessee, to which she has remained devoted throughout her life; and WHEREAS, Ms. Parton's ever-growing legacy is one that lands her firmly among the pantheon of country music greats, but beyond that, she is an exemplar most worthy of emulation--a shining example of the difference one person can make through hard work and compassionate action; and WHEREAS, this General Assembly has passed legislation to designate a segment of U.S. Highway 411 and U.S. Highway 25W in Sevier and Cocke …
