A RESOLUTION to honor the students of Gleason School on receiving the Anne Dallas Dudley Award. WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly take great pleasure in recognizing those high school students who have evidenced a commitment to civic engagement and responsibility at an early age; and WHEREAS, the students of Gleason School in Weakley County have been honored with the Anne Dallas Dudley Award for their success in registering young voters; and WHEREAS, initiated in 2021 by the Secretary of State, the Anne Dallas Dudley Awards focus on increasing voter registration in Tennessee among students who will be eighteen or older on or before the next election, per State law, preparing them to become actively engaged citizens; and WHEREAS, this prestigious award is named in honor of renowned Tennessee suffragist Anne Dallas Dudley, a central figure in the women's suffrage movement who worked tirelessly to secure the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which granted women the right to vote; and WHEREAS, Gleason School received the 2026 Gold Level Anne Dallas Dudley Award for registering 100 percent of the eligible voters attending the school, an impressive accomplishment; and WHEREAS, the future of our nation depends upon our best and brightest being actively involved in their communities, and the students at Gleason School are well on the …
