A RESOLUTION to honor and recognize David Johnson, 2026 Valedictorian of Smyrna High School. WHEREAS, it is only fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to pay tribute to those students in our State who, through their own natural abilities and unwavering pursuit of academic excellence, have distinguished themselves in the classroom; and WHEREAS, David Johnson is one such individual, who has been named Valedictorian of the 2026 graduating class at Smyrna High School; and WHEREAS, through dedication to his studies, careful recollection of vast amounts of data, composure through examinations, and a steadfast commitment of time and talent, Mr. Johnson has achieved a remarkable academic feat and joined the ranks of the brightest and most notable students in the State of Tennessee and the nation; and WHEREAS, in his educational career, Mr. Johnson has maintained an exemplary grade point average while participating in a great number of extracurricular clubs and activities, including the Youth in Government Club, Model United Nations, Service Dawgs, Interact Club, Key Club, Creative Writing Club, First Priority organization, National Beta Club, Book Club, Distributive Education Club of America (DECA), and Mu Alpha Theta; and WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson has earned several prestigious awards and honors; he won the Washington Youth Tour Essay Contest; received Certificates of Academic Excellence in Advanced Placement Biology, Advanced …
