A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Rens Verhaar on his selection as All-South Atlantic Conference in men's tennis. WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should recognize those incredibly successful student athletes who have distinguished themselves as inspirational leaders among their peers; and WHEREAS, Rens Verhaar of Tusculum University has been named third team All-South Atlantic Conference (SAC) in men's tennis singles in honor of his outstanding performance this season; and WHEREAS, Rens Verhaar helped lead the Pioneers to a 17-4 overall record and 8-3 mark in SAC play; and WHEREAS, Tusculum was ranked in the ITA Division II Top 30 for most of the season and claimed three victories against ranked opponents; and WHEREAS, Rens Verhaar compiled an 11-8 record in singles play this season for Tusculum, posting an 8-7 mark in spring dual matches and a 4-3 record in SAC competition; and WHEREAS, a native of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Rens Verhaar earned the attention of the collegiate tennis world by winning 24 consecutive games across three matches; and WHEREAS, Rens Verhaar exemplifies the spirit, determination, and perseverance for which Tennesseans are notable, and he is richly deserving of our approbation on this special occasion; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, …
