A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Sofia Vega Barrantes on her selection as SACC Freshman of the Year in women's beach volleyball. WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should recognize those incredibly successful student athletes who have distinguished themselves as inspirational leaders among their peers; and WHEREAS, Sofia Vega Barrantes of Tusculum University was recently named South Atlantic Conference Carolinas (SACC) Freshman of the Year in women's beach volleyball in honor of her outstanding performance as a first-year player; and WHEREAS, Ms. Vega Barrantes was also named to the All-SACC first team in honor of her 15-13 overall record and 8-2 conference mark during her first collegiate season; and WHEREAS, Sofia Vega Barrantes and her partner and fellow All-SACC first member, Hannah Marsh, compiled a 7-3 conference record and 12-11 overall mark and won ten matches as Tusculum's number-one pair, including a victory over Division I Eastern Kentucky; and WHEREAS, Ms. Vega Barrantes exemplifies the spirit, determination, and perseverance for which Tennesseans are notable, and she is richly deserving of our approbation on this special occasion; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate Sofia Vega Barrantes of Tusculum University on being named South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Freshman …
