89(R) HR 1279 - Enrolled version - Bill Text H.R. No. 1279 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Joy Chanslor has distinguished herself in her responsibilities as a legislative intern in the office of State Representative Yvonne Davis during the 89th Legislative Session; and WHEREAS, Ms. Chanslor is a participant in the Texas Legislative Internship Program, which was founded by State Senator Rodney Ellis in December 1990; administered by the Mickey Leland Center on Hunger, Poverty, and World Peace at Texas Southern University, the program provides students from Texas colleges and universities with a unique opportunity to receive academic credit while serving as interns in the Texas Legislature, in various state agencies, and in local government; and WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Chanslor has provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks; in addition to gaining valuable experience in the field of public service, she has learned more about the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and WHEREAS, A recent graduate, Ms. Chanslor earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Texas Southern University in fall 2024; she has previously worked as a staff member for State Representative Jolanda "Jo" Jones and as a community canvasser for Texas Tool Belt; moreover, she has generously given of her time as a volunteer with Project C.U.R.E. …
