2026 SPECIAL SESSION I SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 2024 Celebrating the life of Charles Morris Hileman. Agreed to by the Senate, June 22, 2026 WHEREAS, Charles Morris Hileman, a highly admired resident of Rockbridge County who touched countless lives through his legacy of professional achievements and commitment to service, died on April 6, 2026; and WHEREAS, born in Lexington, Charles "Charlie" Hileman lived most of his life on his family farm in Rockbridge County, developing a strong work ethic, a passion for the community, and a wide range of skill sets that defined his varied career; and WHEREAS, after graduating from Rockbridge High School and earning an associate degree from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, now Mountain Gateway Community College, Charlie Hileman briefly worked at Norfolk Naval Shipyard but ultimately returned to the Shenandoah Valley to raise a family with his wife of 49 years, Darlene; and WHEREAS, Charlie and Darlene Hileman built and managed numerous successful businesses over the years, most notably the Hileman Tire Company, where countless local residents, students, and tourists were inspired by Charlie's and WHEREAS, Charlie Hileman finished his career in real estate, having earned admiration from peers and colleagues for his comprehensive knowledge of the land in Rockbridge County, a testament to his deep roots and lifelong dedication to serving the community; and WHEREAS, Charlie …
