HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2026-4694 HR 4694 ByRepresentatives Abell and Shavers WHEREAS, The citizens of Washington state honor, appreciate, and remember our Navy personnel; and WHEREAS, The Washington state House of Representatives honor military members in Washington, the United States, and across the globe; and WHEREAS, Washington is uniquely positioned to help address challenges in the Pacific and in Asia; and WHEREAS, Washington has been a historically significant location for Navy installations; and WHEREAS, The state of Washington is the location of one naval base, two naval stations, and a naval hospital; and WHEREAS, Washington state houses aircraft carriers, multiple surface ships, numerous submarines, and hundreds of aircraft; and WHEREAS, The residents of Washington include tens of thousands of Navy personnel; and WHEREAS, Navy installations inject billions of dollars into local economies; and WHEREAS, Washington state Navy installations are recognized for environmental stewardship successes and continue to actively assist in partnership efforts statewide; and WHEREAS, The Navy has worked to improve salmon recovery, support southern resident orca recovery, increase orca food supply, conserve energy and water, conduct and invest hundreds of millions of dollars in marine species research, restore and protect critical habitats from development, mitigate ocean acidification, and invest in renewable energy; and WHEREAS, Washington state naval installations consistently receive awards for the quality of life they provide to service …
