To amend Title 47 of the District of Columbia Code to provide for a property tax exemption for the real property situated on Lot 0055, Square 0275 at 1816 12th Street, N.W., known as the Twelfth Street YMCA Building and operated as the Thurgood Marshall Center for Service and Heritage. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, That this act may be cited as the "Thurgood Marshall Center Trust, Inc. Real Property Tax Exemption Amendment Act of 2026". Sec. 2. Chapter 10 of Title 47 of the District of Columbia Code is amended as follows: (a) The table of contents is amended by adding a new section designation to read as Lot 0055, Square 0275. (b) A new section 47-1099.18 is added to read as follows: "(a) The real property, and improvements on the property, located at 1816 12th Street, N.W., known as the Twelfth Street YMCA Building and operated as the Thurgood Marshall Center for Service and Heritage, known for tax and assessment purposes as Lot 0055, Square 0275 ("Property"), shall be exempt from the tax imposed by Chapter 8 of this title, for the period of January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2026; provided, that the property continues to be owned by the Thurgood Marshall Center Trust, Inc., for the purposes of charitable activities. …
