A BILL To amend the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 to designate United States Route 287 as Interstate Route I-47, and for other purposes. SECTION 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the I-47 Future Interstate Act of 2026 . SECTION 2. Designation of Interstate Route I-47 (a) Designation as high priority corridor Section 1105(c) of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 ( Public Law 102-240 ; 105 Stat. 2032; 135 Stat. 596) is amended by adding at the end the following: (103) United States Route 287 from State Highway 87 in Port Arthur, Texas, to United States Route 89 in Choteau, Montana. . (b) Designation and numbering as Interstate Section 1105(e)(5) of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Act of 1991 ( Public Law 102-240 ; 109 Stat. 597; 135 Stat. 598) is amended-- (1) in subparagraph (A), in the first sentence, by striking and subsection (c)(102) and inserting subsection (c)(102), and subsection (c)(103) ; and (2) in subparagraph (C)(i), by adding at the end the following: The route referred to in subsection (c)(103) is designated as Interstate Route I-47. .
