A BILL To amend section 3506 of title 44, United States Code, to require reductions of burdens and reviews of collections of information, and for other purposes. SECTION 1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Paperwork Reduction Modernization Act of 2026 . SECTION 2. Federal agency responsibilities Section 3506 of title 44, United States Code, is amended-- (1) in subsection (c)-- (A) in paragraph (2)-- (i) in subparagraph (A)-- (I) in clause (iii), by striking ; and and inserting a semicolon; and (II) by adding at the end the and ; and (ii) in subparagraph (B), by striking (iv) and inserting (v) ; and (B) in paragraph (3)-- (i) in subparagraph (I), by striking ; and and inserting a semicolon; and (ii) by adding at the end the and ; and (2) by adding at the end the following: (j) Not later than 18 months after the date of enactment of this subsection, and every 3 years thereafter, the Director shall require each agency to review the collections of information of the agency and identify any such collections that-- (1) are unnecessary or no longer necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency; (2) can be modified to reduce burden; or (3) duplicate a collection of information conducted or sponsored by another agency. .
