RES. 911 IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES September 28, 2026 Ms. Hirono (for herself, Mr. Sanders , Mr. Schatz , Mr. Kaine , Mr. Merkley , Ms. Klobuchar , Ms. Duckworth , Mr. Padilla , Ms. Warren , Mr. Booker , Mr. Wyden , Ms. Rosen , Mr. Durbin , and Ms. Smith ) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary RESOLUTION Expressing support for the recognition of September 27, 2026, to October 3, 2026, as Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions Week . Whereas 2026 marks the 19th anniversary of the formal recognition and funding of Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-serving institutions by Congress on September 27, 2007, in an amendment to the Higher Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 1001 et seq. ), as added by section 802 of the College Cost Reduction and Access Act ( Public Law 110-84 ; 121 Stat. 817); Whereas the Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions Program was officially authorized on August 14, 2008, through section 307 of the Higher Education Opportunity Act ( Public Law 110-315 ; 122 Stat. 3175), which added section 320 to the Higher Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 1059g ); Whereas under section 320 …
